Psychological counseling for students is the provision of psychological support, helping students enhance their self-awareness, understand family circumstances, social relationships, thereby increasing positive emotions, and independently making decisions in difficult situations that students encounter while studying at school.
According to Circular 31/2017/TT-BGDDT, psychological counseling for students aims for the following purposes:
Prevention, support, and intervention (when necessary) for students facing psychological difficulties in their studies and life to find appropriate solutions, minimizing potential negative impact; contributing to a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment and preventing school violence;
Supporting students in developing life skills; enhancing willpower, confidence, character, and appropriate behavior in social relationships; enhancing physical and mental health, contributing to character-building and personal development.
Psychological counseling for students must ensure the following principles:
Ensuring close cooperation between forces within the school and the participation of parents or the legal guardians of the students (collectively referred to as student parents) and relevant external forces in psychological counseling activities for students;
Ensuring students' rights to participation, voluntariness, autonomy, decision-making, and information confidentiality in psychological counseling activities as prescribed by law.
