Preparatory Work Before Conducting Marine Resource Surveys

On December 8, 2017, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 57/2017/TT-BTNMT, detailing the specific tasks that must be carried out in the preparatory work before conducting marine resource surveys.

Accordingly, Circular 57 stipulates the preparation tasks at the office include the following tasks:

- Check the operational status of measuring equipment to ensure the equipment is functioning normally;- Check the expiration date of verification and calibration documents for measuring equipment that requires verification and calibration. If it is past the stipulated time, verification and calibration must be conducted before measuring;- Determine the coordinates of measurement positions;- Prepare specialized recording tapes to serve map printing;- Select a broadcasting channel from a reputable meteorological organization in the region and globally;- Acquire the broadcast schedule of the chosen organization;- Install the relative position of each survey trip to capture high-definition maps;- Identify the types of maps necessary to obtain;- Prepare materials for observation and accounting;- Prepare tools for measurement purposes.

At the same time, Circular 57 also stipulates the preparation tasks at the field to include the following:

- Transport and install equipment to the ship;- Check the operational status of the equipment;- Inspect tools and recording books.
