Practice duration for recognition of doctors in Vietnam

Before obtaining a medical practice certificate, holders of professional diplomas in health granted or recognized in Vietnam must practice at the following medical examination and treatment establishments for:

- 18 months at hospitals or research institutes with patient beds (below referred to as hospitals), for medical doctors:

- 12 months at hospitals, for assistant doctors:

- 9 months at hospitals with obstetrics wards or obstetrics clinics, for midwives:

- 9 months at medical examination and treatment establishments, for nurses and technicians.

In order to register for medical practice, applicants shall send an application for practice using the form No. 01 of Annex V enclosed with Decree No. 109/2016/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government on issuance of practice certificates to healthcare practitioners and operation licenses to healthcare facilities and valid copies of healthcare-related qualifications to the healthcare facility where he/she registered the internship.
