Plant-Based Foods for Export Must Be Re-imported If They Do Not Meet Requirements

This is the notable content in Circular 44/2018/TT-BNNPTNT on state inspection of food safety for exported food of plant origin.

If plant-based exported food products fail to meet food safety standards, they will be returned by the importing country. The inspection and handling of these food products are regulated as follows:

- Inspection of returned imported food products shall be conducted according to Article 19 of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP.- Handling of returned imported food products that do not meet requirements shall be conducted according to Article 20 of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP.- Organizations and individuals exporting plant-based food products that fail to meet the food safety requirements of the importing country must implement traceability according to Circular 74/2011/TT-BNNPTNT.

According to Circular 44, the Regional Plant Quarantine Sub-Departments and Plant Quarantine Stations at border gates are the state agencies responsible for food safety inspection of exported plant-based food products.
