On December 16, 2024, the Minister of Transport of Vietnam issued Decision 1548/QD-BGTVT regarding the Plan for the peak campaign against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods before, during, and after Lunar New Year 2025 by the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam.

The tasks of agencies and units in the Transport sector are as follows:

- Develop and effectively implement the Plan for the peak campaign against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods before, during, and after Lunar New Year 2025, according to the managed fields and areas.

Proactively arrange forces and means to strictly patrol and control land, rail, maritime, air borders, trails, paths, and warehousing areas near borders to prevent acts of smuggling, commercial fraud, and unauthorized transportation of goods into the interior;

Focus on prohibited goods, low-quality goods, conditional imports, high-tariff goods, essential goods for production and consumption during Lunar New Year…

- Actively monitor the situation; identify new methods of smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit activities; determine key routes, areas, subjects, and products to concentrate forces, means, and measures for action; clearly define the responsibilities of central and local agencies, and units in managing, inspecting, and controlling fields and areas.

- Strengthen professional measures, conduct intensive checks and supervision on transportation routes from the border to inland, effectively prevent unauthorized transportation of goods with unclear origins; flexibly deploy operations to combat smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit, low-quality goods circulated on transport routes and traffic hubs such as bus stations, train stations, airports…

- Intensify propaganda, disseminate laws related to anti-smuggling, illicit transportation, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods to officials and public employees, and workers across the sector and the public; strictly comply with legal regulations, do not participate in or assist violators, raise vigilance, report crimes to authorities upon detecting suspicious signs.

The implementation period of the Plan: from December 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025.

Simultaneously, during the Lunar New Year 2025 holiday (from January 25, 2025, to February 2, 2025), agencies and units are required to promptly report the results of detection, capture, and handling of smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit cases to the Ministry of Transport for compiling a report to the National Steering Committee 389.

The summary report of thePlan for the peak campaign against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods before, during, and after Lunar New Year 2025 of should be submitted to the Ministry of Transport before March 15, 2025, for compilation to report to the National Steering Committee 389. (Appendix of detected, detained, administrative, and criminal violations, and Appendix of typical cases according to the monthly report template).
