Regarding this issue, LawNet would like to answer as follows:

On August 24, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 4557/BGDDT-GDTC guiding the implementation of the tasks of physical education, sports activities, and school health in the school year 2023-2024.

Physical education and school sports activities in the school year 2023-2024 in Vietnam

In order to continue to improve quality and meet practical requirements, the Ministry of Education and Training (Education and Training) guides the Departments of Education and Training; Universities, academies, and pedagogical colleges shall implement the tasks of the school year 2023-2024 for physical education and school sports activities as follows:

(1) Organizing the effective implementation of the Physical Education subject program, arranging reasonable and scientific class time, contributing to improving the quality of class hours, and innovating teaching forms and methods to create excitement, suitable for each type of student and the conditions of each educational institution, without putting pressure on students;

Increasing the mobilization of the participation of organizations and individuals through programs and projects to develop the work of physical education and sports activities in schools.

(2) Organizing physical activities associated with the content of physical education subjects, diversifying forms of movement, encouraging students to actively participate in health training and physical development, maintaining morning physical training, middle-class exercise, teaching traditional martial arts, Vovinam martial arts, etc. for students;

Implementing and strictly implementing Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDĐT regulating sports activities in schools; strengthening the organization of sports competitions at school, school clusters, and branch levels for students; establishing teams to participate in sports tournaments at all levels; and sending students to participate in international sports events at regional, continental, and world levels.

Specifically, sports activities in the 2023–2024 school year are expected to be as follows:

- Organization of sports activities in the country:

+ National Student Football Championship (SV Cup): Organized time: 9-12/2023

+ Launching Ceremony and Running Tournament for Students of S-Race 2024: Organized time: November 8, 2024

+ Phu Dong Health Association in regions and nationwide: Organized time: August 4, 2024

+ National Student Basketball Tournament: Organized time: November 4, 2024

+ National Student Volleyball Tournament: Organized time: November 4, 2024

+ National People's Teacher Sports Festival in 2024: Organized time: November 1 - November 6, 2024

+ National Student Football Championship (SV Cup): Organized time: 9-12/2024

- Participation in international sports activities:

+ Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival

Event time: 11/23 - 2/12/2023

Venue: City. Da Nang - Vietnam

+ Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival

Event time: June 25-July 6, 2024

Venue: Indonesia

+ Southeast Asian Student Sports Festival

Event time: 8/2024

Venue: Brunei

(3) Continuing to implement Decision 1076/QD-TTg on approving the Master Plan on development of physical education and school sports in the period 2016-2021, with orientation to 2025; strictly implement the examination, assessment, and classification of students' physical strength according to Decision 53/2008/QD-BGDDT.

(4) Strengthening the application of information technology and digital transformation in teaching innovation and implementing the work of physical education and activities; building a database on child and student health; effectively building and exploiting a digital data warehouse in the teaching activities of teachers and the advocacy activities of students.

(5) Reviewing and effectively use facilities, yards, and equipment for physical education and physical activity in educational institutions; develop a plan to coordinate with local physical training and sports management agencies in supporting the use of sports facilities in the area for students to practice and compete.
