On November 30, 2006, the Ministry of Health issued Circular 15/2006/TT-BYT on the sanitary examination of clean water, drinking water and household lavatories in Vietnam

Circular 15/2006/TT-BYT specifically regulates the sanitary examination of clean water, drinking water and household lavatories in Vietnam:
1. Periodic examinations
- Monthly examinations for water plants and centralized water supply stations for residential clusters of 500 people or more.
- Biannual examinations for:
- Centralized water supply stations for residential clusters of less than 500 people.
- self-supplied water systems.
- Household lavatories.
2. Ad-hoc examinations
- Ad-hoc examinations shall be conducted in the following cases:- When beginning the exploitation and use of the water source.- When the exploited water source is at risk of contamination.
3. Upon Request of Competent Authorities
Additionally, this Circular regulates the scope of examination and sampling for the testing of clean water, drinking water, and household lavatories as follows:
- For periodic examinations:
- Inspect the general sanitation condition of 100% of the water plants, centralized water supply stations, self-supplied water systems, and household lavatories in the area
- Collect water samples for testing from 100% of the water plants and centralized water supply stations. The proportion of water samples collected for testing from self-supplied water systems depends on the plan and actual conditions of each locality.
- For ad-hoc examinations: Inspect the general sanitation condition and collect water samples for testing from the water plant, centralized water supply station, or self-supplied water systems being inspected.
