The Ordinance on Organization of Military Courts 2002 was promulgated on November 04, 2002. One of the notable contents in this document is the regulations on the organizational structure and the adjudicative jurisdiction of the Central Military Court.

Specifically, according to the provisions of Article 21 of the Ordinance on the Organization of Military Courts 2002, the Central Military Court belongs to the organizational structure of the Supreme People's Court.
The organizational structure of the Central Military Court includes:
- The Judicial Committee of the Central Military Court;- The Appellate Tribunal of the Central Military Court;- The Administrative Support Apparatus.
The Central Military Court has a Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justices, Judges, and Court Clerks.
The Central Military Court has the authority to adjudicate:
- Appeals of criminal cases in which the judgments or decisions of subordinate military courts that have not yet taken legal effect are appealed or protested according to procedural law;- Cassation and retrial of criminal cases in which the judgments or decisions of subordinate military courts that have taken legal effect are protested according to procedural law.
The Central Military Court oversees the adjudication activities of subordinate military courts.
