The Ministry of Transport issued Circular 06/2018/TT-BGTVT on February 07, 2018, specifically regulating the activities of exploiting information from the Ship Security Alert System.
To be specific, Circular 06 stipulates that when extracting information from the Ship Security Alert System (abbreviated as SSAS), the following activities must be conducted:
Receiving Maritime Security Information includes:
- Receiving SSAS messages and SSAS Device Test messages from Inmarsat C;- Receiving maritime security information via fax, telephone, email, official documents;- Receiving maritime security information through other methods.
Processing Maritime Security Information includes:
- Classifying received maritime security information;- Verifying information for security alert information;- Processing maritime security information according to existing procedures;- Contacting to provide information, updating information with domestic and international agencies in the process of resolving international cases and affairs;- Recording incident processing; archiving records.
Transmitting Maritime Security Information includes:
- Transmitting maritime security information to Maritime Port Authorities;- Transmitting maritime security information to Seaport Enterprises;- Transmitting maritime security information to ship security officers, maritime companies;- Transmitting maritime security information to ships, seaports, directives of competent authorities;- Reporting and summarizing specific incidents promptly to superiors.
