Occupational allowances for military personnel engaged in artistic performances in Vietnam

Recently, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam issued Circular 167/2008/TT-BQP guiding the implementation of occupational allowances and training for military personnel engaged in artistic performances.

Circular 167/2008/TT-BQP stipulates the occupational allowances for military personnel engaged in artistic performances in Vietnam as follows:

Occupational allowances:

- A 20% rate calculated on the current salary combined with the position allowance and seniority beyond the bracket allowance (if any), applied to ballet dancers, traditional opera actors, wind instrumentalists, circus performers, musical actors, ballet artists;

- A 15% rate calculated on the current salary combined with the position allowance and seniority beyond the bracket allowance (if any), applied to reformed opera actors, traditional folk actors, puppeteers, new singers, folk singers, drama actors, string instrumentalists, percussion instrumentalists.

Funding Source:

The funding source for paying the occupational allowance is calculated in the annual regular budget estimates of the unit.

Calculation Method and Payment Method:

- Calculation Method:

The occupational allowance is calculated on the current rank, tier, grade salary combined with the position allowance, seniority beyond the bracket allowance (if any), determined according to the following formula:

Occupational allowance to be received = General minimum wage level x Salary coefficient by current rank, tier, grade + Leadership position allowance coefficient + % (converted to coefficient) seniority beyond the bracket allowance (if any) x Occupational allowance to be received according to regulations

- Payment Method:

The occupational allowance is paid together with the monthly salary and is not used to calculate or enjoy social insurance, health insurance.
