Circular 40/2018/TT-BYT has been promulgated by the Ministry of Health regulating the management of infectious disease specimens.
According to Circular 40, the reception, usage, and storage of specimen samples are conducted as follows:
- Upon receiving notification from the unit sending the sample, the laboratory must assign staff to receive the sample. The person performing the sample reception must comply with the laboratory’s regulations on opening the sample box, recording the reception time, the name of the person receiving the sample, the condition of the sample upon receipt, and checking the laboratory’s acceptance or rejection standards.- The receiving facility proceeds with testing following professional and technical procedures for each type of specimen and the purpose of specimen use.- Stored specimen samples must be preserved to ensure no infection to humans and the environment.- The reception, usage, and storage of specimen samples must ensure biological safety according to Circular 37/2017/TT-BYT.
