The Ministry of Health has just issued Dispatch 1909/BYT-DP stipulates the adjustment of COVID-19 case definitions and medical measures for COVID-19 (F0) and close contacts (F1) in Vietnam.

According to the Official Dispatch in Vietnam, within 10 days after the last close contact with a confirmed case during the transmission period of this confirmed case, a close contact is required to strictly comply with the following guidelines:
- Infection prevention measures: wear mask, wash hands frequently with soap and clean water/rapid hand sanitizer, avoid contact with other people, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19 or suffer from serious disease; don’t share personal household, working and learning items; avoid crowds.
- Monitor health (parents/guardians/teachers shall take charge of monitoring health conditions of close contacts who are children or pupils). The onset of symptoms (fever and cough; or at least 3 of the following symptoms: fever, cough, body aches, fatigue, chills, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, loss of taste or smell or a reduction in these senses, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or difficulty breathing) should be immediately reported to health facilities for getting advice, test, diagnosis, treatment and health care as prescribed.
- The close contact is required to inform local health facility immediately when getting a positive test result for SARS-CoV-2 so as to get advice, health care and treatment, and implement infection prevention measures as prescribed.
Previously, in Official Dispatch 762/BYT-DP dated February 21, 2022, those identified as F1 must be quarantined to prevent the spead of Covid-19 in Vietnam, specifically, + People who have received at least 02 doses of COVID-19 vaccines or has recovered from COVID-19 within the last three months: 5Stay in quarantine for 05 days at home, accommodation or other eligible areas + People who have not received full doses of COVID-19 vaccines or have not been vaccinated against COVID-19: Stay in quarantine for 07 days at home, accommodation or other eligible areas |
Thus, according to the latest guidance of the Ministry of Health of Vietnam, F1 only implements anti-epidemic measures as prescribed without medical isolation.
Official Dispatch 1909/BYT-DP was issued on May 15, 2022 and replaced Official Dispatch 11042/BYT-DP of December 29, 2021 and Official Dispatch 762/BYT-DP of February 21, 2022.
