On January 4, 2006, the Government of Vietnam issued Decree 01/2006/ND-CP on the adjustment of administrative boundaries and the expansion of Ha Dong, a district-level town in Ha Tay province.

Decree 01/2006/ND-CP adjusts administrative boundaries and expands district-level town Ha Dong, Ha Tay province of Vietnam as follows:
1. Merge 67.64 ha of natural area and 1,097 inhabitants of Phuong Bai village, Phung Chau commune, Chuong My district into Bien Giang commune under Thanh Oai district. The Bien Giang commune has 270.30 ha of natural area and 5,942 inhabitants.
After adjusting the administrative boundaries, Phung Chau commune remains with 711.82 ha of natural area and 11,449 inhabitants.
2. Transfer the entire Bien Giang and Dong Mai communes under Thanh Oai district, with a natural area of 904.49 ha and 18,490 inhabitants; Duong Noi commune under Hoai Duc district, with a natural area of 585.31 ha and 15,766 inhabitants, to district-level town Ha Dong for management.
Thus, after adjusting the administrative boundaries, district-level town Ha Dong in Vietnam will expand as follows:
- District-level town Ha Dong has a natural area of 4,791.74 ha and 173,707 inhabitants, with 15 administrative units under its management including Nguyen Trai, Quang Trung, Phuc La, Van Mo, Yet Kieu, Ha Cau, Van Phuc wards and Van Khe, Kien Hung, Phu Luong, Phu Lam, Yen Nghia, Bien Giang, Dong Mai, Duong Noi communes. The administrative boundaries of district-level town Ha Dong are: East borders Hanoi city; West borders Chuong My, Quoc Oai, Hoai Duc districts; South borders Thanh Oai, Chuong My districts; North borders Hanoi city of Vietnam.
- Thanh Oai district remains with a natural area of 12,378.19 ha and 167,166 inhabitants, with 21 administrative units under its management including Bich Hoa, Thanh Cao, Cao Vien, Binh Minh, Thanh Mai, Tam Hung, Thanh Thuy, Cu Khe, My Hung, Thanh Van, Kim An, Kim Thu, Phuong Trung, Do Dong, Tan Uoc, Dan Hoa, Hong Duong, Lien Chau, Cao Duong, Xuan Duong communes and commune-level town Kim Bai.
- Hoai Duc district remains with a natural area of 8,238.47 ha and 169,566 inhabitants, with 20 administrative units under its management including An Khanh, An Thuong, Cat Que, Duong Lieu, Di Trach, Dong La, Dat So, Duc Giang, Duc Thuong, Kim Chung, Lai Yen, La Phu, Minh Khai, Son Dong, Song Phuong, Tien Yen, Van Con, Van Canh, Yen So communes and commune-level town Tram Troi.
- Chuong My district remains with a natural area of 23,226.51 ha and 276,191 inhabitants, with 32 administrative units under its management including Thuy Huong, Lam Dien, Hoang Dieu, Thuong Vuc, Van Vo, Phu Nam An, Hoa Chinh, Dong Phu, Hong Phong, Hop Dong, Quang Bi, Dai Yen, Ngoc Hoa, Tien Phuong, Truong Yen, Tot Dong, Trung Hoa, Phu Nghia, Dong Phuong Yen, Dong Son, Thanh Binh, Thuy Xuan Tien, Tan Tien, Nam Phuong Tien, Hoang Van Thu, Huu Van, My Luong, Tran Phu, Dong Lac, Phung Chau communes and commune-level town Chuc Son, Xuan Mai.
