Recently, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate (Level 4 of VQF) and college (Level 5 of VQF) levels in mechanical engineering sectors.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and required competencies for graduates from intermediate and college levels in mechanical equipment assembly issued together with Circular 47/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum knowledge required for graduates of Mechanical equipment assembly, Level 5 of VQF in Vietnam is as follows:
- Explain safety standards in an industrial environment;
- Analyze the content on technical drawings according to Vietnamese standards and international standards (ISO);
- Present calculation methods through applied mathematical calculations in engineering and proficiently use mechanical lookup tables;
- Present the structure, physical properties, chemical properties, and mechanical properties in the material symbol system applied in mechanics according to Vietnamese standards and some other countries in the world;
- Present the structure, principle of operation, application range, and basic parameters of mechanical transmissions and basic machine components;
- Present the structure, principle of operation, and application range of handheld mechanical tools;
- Explain mechanical processing methods using handheld tools such as sawing, filing, marking, drilling, reaming, threading inside and outside with taps and dies, etc.;
- Present methods for checking the quality of mechanical products in terms of dimensions and geometric shapes;
- Analyze the assembly regulations of the tolerance and fit system of smooth surfaces according to Vietnamese standards;
- Present the structure, usage, method, and maintenance of basic mechanical measuring and inspection tools like feeler gauges, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, calipers, and thread profile gauges;
- Present methods for planning and organizing work at the workplace;
- Organize and implement occupational safety and industrial hygiene measures at the workplace;
- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as prescribed.
