On December 23, 2019, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam issued Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that students must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate and college levels for fields and professions related to computers, information technology, and technical technology.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required for the Field of Geodetic Survey in Vietnam (College) (Illustrative Image)
According to the regulations issued with Circular 21/2019/TT-BLDTBXH, the requirements for the minimal knowledge and skills that learners must achieve upon graduation in the field of surveying and mapping at the college level in Vietnam. To be specific:

- Describe the structure, operating principles, usage, technical specifications, and errors of common surveying devices such as: Theodolites, leveling instruments, electronic total stations, GNSS satellite positioning devices; - Describe the process of using, maintaining, inspecting, and calibrating errors in surveying instruments; - Analyze the process and methods for establishing control networks by traditional methods and GNSS technology; - Describe the process of measurement, mapping; inspecting, adjusting, acceptance, and handing over maps; - Describe the process of measuring and plotting various types of topographical cross-sections; - Describe the preliminary layout methods of structures; surveying, calculation, construction, and completion of the works; - Describe the standards and procedures for monitoring surface deformation of the terrain; - Analyze the types of errors and adjustment calculation methods in surveying; - Describe the process of using surveying software in creating topographic maps and construction surveying maps; - Describe the methods for planning, organizing construction, ensuring labor safety; evaluate the results of the work process; - Describe basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as prescribed. |
- Proficiently use common surveying devices such as: Theodolites, leveling instruments, electronic total stations, GNSS satellite positioning devices; - Inspect and calibrate simple errors in common surveying instruments such as: Theodolites, leveling instruments, electronic total stations, GNSS satellite positioning devices; - Establish control networks for horizontal and vertical control to the base level, control networks using GNSS technology; - Measure, map, and create various types of topographical cross-sections; - Inspect, calibrate, accept, and hand over maps and various types of topographical cross-sections; - Survey and calculate basic elements for preliminary layout of structures; - Proficiently use surveying software to create maps and construction surveys: Transportation, irrigation, hydropower, underground works; - Inspect and evaluate surface deformation of the terrain; - Develop a construction plan that is efficient and ensures labor safety during the work process; - Apply some new technologies, green skills, meeting the requirements of the 4.0 technology revolution in surveying; - Use basic information technology as prescribed; apply information technology in certain professional tasks of the industry and profession; - Use basic foreign language skills reaching level 2/6 in the Vietnamese language proficiency framework; apply foreign language skills in some professional tasks of the industry and profession. |
