Minimum Knowledge Achieved After Graduation at the Intermediate Level in Traditional Medicine

On December 28, 2018, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs issued Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulating the minimum required knowledge volume and competency requirements for learners after graduating from intermediate and college levels in health and social services fields.

According to the Regulation on minimum knowledge volume, competency requirements that learners achieve after graduating from the intermediate level, college level in traditional medicine professions, issued together with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, stipulating the minimum knowledge volume acquired after graduating from the intermediate level in traditional medicine. Specifically:

- Accurately describe the anatomical structure and physiological functions of various organs and parts of the human body;

- Describe and explain the uses of commonly used medicinal herbs and some traditional medicine prescriptions;

- Describe the methods of processing traditional medicinal herbs;

- Correctly depict the meridian system, describe the positions and effects of commonly used acupuncture points, explain the principles of point selection in treatment;

- Describe the techniques of acupuncture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion, and supplementary-removal techniques;

- Describe massage movements that act on the skin, muscles, bones, joints, and acupuncture points;

- Describe the effects, indications, contraindications of massage to appropriately apply in treatment and disease prevention;

- Describe the steps of examination and detect common traditional medicine symptoms in clinical settings;

- Present the ethical principles related to health care and legal responsibilities of the medical profession;

- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, physical education as prescribed.
