Measuring Instruments in Retail Commerce in Vietnam

On June 27, 2017, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam issued Circular 09/2017/TT-BKHCN stipulating specific regulations on measuring instruments in retail commerce.

Circular 17 stipulates that scales used to perform mass measurements in retail commerce in Vietnam must meet the following requirements:

Over 1 kg to 2 kg	≤ 50 g	2 kg Scale; 4 kg Scale; 5 kg Scale; 8 kg Scale; 10 kg Scale; 12 kg Scale; 15 kg Scale; 20 kg Scale.
Over 2 kg to 4 kg	≤ 100 g	4 kg Scale; 5 kg Scale; 8 kg Scale; 10 kg Scale; 12 kg Scale; 15 kg Scale; 20 kg Scale; 30 kg Scale.
Over 4 kg to 100 kg	≤ 200 g	5 kg Scale; () 8 kg Scale; () 10 kg Scale; () 12 kg Scale; () 15 kg Scale; () 20 kg Scale; () 30 kg Scale; () 60 kg Scale; () 100 kg Scale.

- Have been verified at a designated verification organization according to the legal regulations on measurement in Vietnam;

- The parts and components of the scale must conform to the approved model;

- The parts, components, and functions that can potentially interfere and change the basic metrological technical characteristics of the scale must be sealed or lead-sealed by a designated verification organization in Vietnam.
