Maintenance and preservation of common types of firefighting equipment in Vietnam

On October 28, 2014, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam issued Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA on the management, preservation, and maintenance of firefighting and fire prevention equipment.

Article 16 Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA stipulates the maintenance of other common firefighting equipment in Vietnam as follows:

1. Maintenance of fire hoses in Vietnam

Storing and maintaining hoses in the warehouse: Hoses must be placed on racks in dry places, away from chemicals, gasoline, oil; if stored for a long time, the hoses should be rotated and the folds changed;

Storing, maintaining, and arranging hoses on vehicles: Hoses placed on fire trucks in rolls must be stored in the specified compartments; no other tools or equipment should be placed in these compartments;

Maintenance after firefighting or firefighting drills

- When deploying hoses, avoid bending or placing heavy objects on them, do not spread hoses over sharp objects, burning materials, places with acid, or other corrosive substances;

- When attaching hoses to the vehicle's nozzle, absolutely do not move the vehicle, do not drag or pull the hose segment near the nozzle;

- When pumping water, do not abruptly increase or decrease the throttle, do not exceed the working pressure of each type of hose;

- Dry the hoses before rolling them up and storing them in the warehouse or on the vehicle's hose compartment; do not place wet hoses on the vehicle.

2. Maintenance of suction hoses, fire nozzles, connectors, triple connectors, double connectors, filter baskets, fire ladders in Vietnam

- Check the technical status of the equipment and clean them thoroughly, arrange them on racks, shelves, or in storage cabinets; do not throw or drop the equipment when arranging or transporting them;

- Do not place the equipment near gasoline, oil, acid, and other corrosive chemicals or allow grease to stick to the equipment;

- The equipment must be arranged by type and quality to facilitate management, storage, maintenance, and firefighting operations;

- Do not place heavy objects on the equipment or stack them too high to avoid deformation or flattening.
