Level of Autonomy and Responsibilities to be Achieved in the Nursing Sector at the College Level

Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs stipulates the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate and college levels in health and social service sectors, which will take effect from February 10, 2019.

In the provisions on the minimum amount of knowledge and competencies that students must achieve after graduating from intermediate level and college level in nursing, issued along with Circular 54/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the minimum level of autonomy and responsibility that students must have after graduating from the college level in nursing is stipulated as follows:

- Work independently or in a group, solve complex tasks, and address issues in changing work conditions;- Guide and supervise others in performing specific tasks; take personal responsibility and group responsibility;- Evaluate the quality of work after completion and the results of the group members’ performance;- Strictly adhere to ethical regulations, professional regulations, legal requirements related to the nursing field, and technical processes in healthcare;- Be careful, meticulous, and take personal responsibility for the results of individual and group work.

Additionally, after graduation, students are competent to meet the requirements for the following positions in the nursing field:

- Clinical nurse;- Care nurse;- Community nurse.

Moreover, the minimum amount of knowledge and competencies that students must achieve after graduating at the college level in the nursing field can be further developed at higher levels; graduates are capable of self-learning and updating scientific and technological advancements within the nursing field to enhance their qualifications or pursue further studies in the same profession or related fields.
