Layout of Animal Slaughter Facilities Must Include Disinfection Pits

This is the content stipulated in Circular 13/2017/TT-BNNPTNT regarding National Technical Regulations in the field of Veterinary Medicine.

Circular 13 sets out the requirements for designing the layout of animal slaughter establishments as follows:

- Must have surrounding walls to separate from the surrounding area.- Must have a disinfection pit with a minimum size of 0.8 m x 0.4 m x 0.15 m (length x width x height) or have disinfectant means for people and vehicles at the entrance to the slaughter facility.- Must have separate paths for live animal entry and post-slaughter meat exit, live animals must not be transported through the clean area.- Must have two separate areas including the administrative area and the production area.- Must arrange rooms for changing protective clothing before and after work.- Must arrange a place for receiving animals, a holding area for animals waiting for slaughter, and it must be separated from the quarantine area for suspected sick animals and dead animal treatment.- Must arrange distinct dirty and clean areas in the slaughter area to ensure no cross-contamination between the two areas and ensure the slaughter process follows a one-way principle from dirty to clean.- Must arrange toilets separate from the slaughter area; toilet doors must not open directly into the slaughter area.- Must arrange a place for processing dead animals and inedible organs to ensure no contamination with edible products.
