Law on Residence 2006 of Vietnam: Prohibited acts

The Law on Residence 2006 of Vietnam was promulgated on November 29, 2006, consisting of 6 chapters, 42 articles. There are acts strictly prohibited specified in this document.

Specifically, according to Article 8 of the Law on Residence 2006 and Clause 1 Article 1 of the Law on amendments to the Law on Residence in 2013 of Vietnam, prohibited acts include:

One, obstructing citizens from exercising their right to freedom of residence.

Two, abusing the regulations on household registration to limit citizens' lawful rights and interests. Specifically, these abuses of household registration regulations are guided in Article 3 of Decree No. 31/2014/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government.

Three, taking bribes, showing authoritativeness and imperiousness, harassing for bribes or causing troubles in residence registration and administration.

Four, collecting or using residence registration fees in contravention of law.

Five, setting at one's own will the time, procedures, papers or forms in contravention of law or falsifying residence books and dossiers.

Six, deliberately granting or refusing to grant residence papers in contravention of law.

Seven, taking advantage of the right to freedom of residence to infringe upon the interests of the State, the lawful rights and interests of organizations or individuals.

Eight, renting, leasing, forging, falsifying household registration books, temporary residence books, and other residence papers; using fake residence papers; providing false information or documents about residence; forging conditions for registration of permanent residence.

Nine, organizing, instigating, inciting, inducing, brokering, aiding or forcing other people to violate the law on residence.

Ten, granting residence registration in the full knowledge that the applicants do not live there.

Eleven, registering other people in the household registration book for self-seeking purposes while they are not living there.
