Law on Atomic Energy 2008: Regulations on radiation jobs in Vietnam

The Law on Atomic Energy 2008 was issued on June 03, 2008, which provides for activities in the domain of atomic energy and the assurance of safety and security in these activities.

According to Article 18 of the Law on Atomic Energy 2008 of Vietnam, radiation jobs include the following activities:

One, operating research nuclear reactors and nuclear power plants:

Two, operating irradiation equipment, including accelerators: radiotherapeutic equipment; irradiation equipment for sterilization, treatment of materials and use of other radiation equipment;

Three, producing and processing radioactive substances;

Four, storing and using radioactive substances;

Five, exploring, exploiting and processing radioactive ores;

Six, enriching uranium; producing nuclear fuel;

Seven, disposing of, storing and burying radioactive waste and used radioactive sources and spent nuclear fuel;

Eight, building, changing the operation scale and scope or terminating operation of radiation facilities and nuclear facilities;

Nine, using nuclear material outside the nuclear fuel cycle;

Ten, importing or exporting radioactive substances, nuclear source material, nuclear material and equipment;

Eleven, packing and transporting radioactive material;

Twelve, transporting radioactive material in transit via the Vietnamese territory;

Thirteen, operating seagoing ships and other vehicles that are nuclear-powered;

Fourteen, carrying out other activities which generate radioactive waste.
