Labor Code 2019: Supplementing Prohibited Work for Minor Employees

Labor Code 2019 prohibits the employment of individuals from 15 to under 18 years old in the following jobs: Production, trading of alcohol, beer, tobacco, substances affecting the mind or other addictive substances. This is one of the new points in this Code aimed at minimizing the exploitation of underage labor and tightening the protection mechanism for juvenile employees.

In addition, this Code retains the regulation prohibiting individuals from 15 to under 18 years old from doing the following jobs:

- Carrying, lifting, and raising weights that exceed the juvenile's physical capacity;- Production, use, or transport of chemicals, gas, and explosives;- Maintenance, repair of equipment, and machinery;- Demolition of construction works;- Cooking, blowing, casting, rolling, stamping, welding metals;- Diving, offshore fishing;- Other jobs that harm the physical, mental, or moral development of the juvenile.

Additionally, the employment of individuals from 15 to under 18 years old is prohibited in the following places:

- Underwater, underground, in caves, in tunnels;- Construction sites;- Livestock slaughterhouses;- Casinos, bars, nightclubs, karaoke rooms, hotels, guest houses, saunas, massage parlors; lottery businesses, video game services;- Other workplaces that harm the physical, mental, or moral development of the juvenile.
