Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH stipulates that water resource engineering technology at the intermediate level is a field that performs the tasks of planning, surveying, designing, constructing, and managing medium and small irrigation works; monitoring and investigating the assessment of water resources, developing plans, administrative procedures, and professional operations in the field of water resources. Therefore, learners need to meet the following knowledge and skills after graduation in Vietnam:

Knowledge

- Explain the laws of water in nature, the spatial and temporal distribution of water;- Present basic knowledge about water resource warnings and forecasting;

- Present the basic contents of some legal documents and regulations related to the construction, management, exploitation, and protection of water resource exploitation works;

- Present the basic principles and foundational technical knowledge of the major (Construction materials, electrical engineering, geodesy, hydraulics, hydrology);

- Present basic knowledge about measurement techniques for monitoring water resource exploitation works;

- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as regulated.

Skills

- Identify the location, investigate, and assess surface water and groundwater resources;

- Select the correct river section to place a surface water monitoring station according to standards;

- Collect, review information and data before fieldwork and deploy the investigation and assessment of surface and groundwater resources;

- Synthesize, revise, and process information and data collected after the field investigation and field investigation results as per the evaluation content;

- Organize the construction and operation of surface and groundwater resource monitoring works;

- Organize and conduct monitoring of water level data; water flow; water quality;

- Evaluate the current status and evolution of surface and groundwater resources;

- Perform proper sequence operations, operate project equipment, and the sequence of disassembling, assembling, and maintaining parts of closing and opening machines;

- Operate irrigation, large and small drainage gates correctly;

- Perform steps for disassembly and maintenance of gate opening and closing machine parts;

- Read all types of design drawings or one component of medium and small-scale water resource exploitation works;

- Develop independent operating procedures for medium and small-scale water resource exploitation works;

- Manage and exploit using medium and small-scale water resource exploitation systems;

- Measure, check, and accurately evaluate the current status of components in the water resource exploitation system;

- Use modern support tools such as computer software, measurement, and experimental devices to be able to study or follow higher programs;

- Use basic information technology as regulated; apply information technology in some professional tasks of the field;

- Use basic foreign language skills, achieving level 1/6 in the Vietnamese Foreign Language Competency Framework; apply foreign language skills in some professional tasks of the field.
