To be specific, Circular 56/2018/TT-BLDTBXH defines industrial wastewater treatment at the intermediate level as a profession performing the following tasks: Operating industrial wastewater treatment systems; maintaining and servicing equipment and wastewater treatment systems; analyzing and evaluating pollution indices in wastewater and supervising the quality of discharged water; detecting and troubleshooting during operation and optimizing the operational processes of the wastewater treatment system; organizing the installation of equipment for industrial wastewater treatment projects; instructing operations and transferring technology, meeting the Level 4 requirements in the Vietnamese Qualifications Framework. Learners need to acquire the following knowledge and skills:

Regarding Knowledge

- Being able to describe the methods of sampling, analyzing, identifying, and comparing environmental indices according to the QCVN for each type of wastewater and related legal documents;

- Understanding the principles of chemical, tool, and equipment safety in the laboratory and occupational safety at wastewater treatment plants;

- Recognizing the role of different microorganisms in wastewater treatment;

- Describing basic wastewater treatment technology processes;

- Explaining the technical parameters of various equipment in the wastewater treatment system;

- Identifying common incidents and damages in constructions, pipeline systems, and equipment at wastewater treatment plants and proposing maintenance and servicing measures;

- Understanding the process for constructing and installing equipment at small and medium-sized wastewater treatment projects;

- Basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense, security, and physical education as required.

Regarding Skills

- Utilizing basic tools and equipment in the laboratory, as well as handling chemicals as required;

- Executing necessary procedures to analyze basic environmental criteria and comparing the results with QCVN standards;

- Ensuring occupational safety during laboratory operations and in the wastewater treatment system;

- Operating the wastewater treatment system;

- Performing maintenance and servicing of the wastewater treatment system under managerial guidance;

- Monitoring, inspecting, and periodically measuring basic parameters to maintain stable system operations as per the treatment process;

- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance of machinery and equipment in the wastewater treatment system;

- Identifying the technical specifications of different types of equipment in the wastewater treatment system;

- Executing construction and installation of equipment for small and medium-sized wastewater treatment projects;

- Updating new information about technologies and procedures in wastewater treatment system operations;

- Utilizing basic information technology as required; applying information technology in specialized professional tasks;

- Using basic foreign languages, achieving level 1/6 in the Vietnam Foreign Language Proficiency Framework; applying foreign languages in some specialized tasks.
