Introduction to the Residential Electrical Industry at Intermediate Level

Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation from intermediate level, college level in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and telecommunications will take effect from February 10, 2019.

According to the regulations on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate and college level for the residential electricity sector, issued under Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the intermediate level in the residential electricity sector is a profession where practitioners specialize in installing, operating, maintaining motors, generators, repairing residential electrical systems, household electrical appliances, control and warning devices, meeting the requirements of level 4 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Practitioners in Residential Electricity work in production facilities, agencies, business units related to technology; repairing household and residential electrical equipment.

The tasks of the sector are primarily performed at workshops, factories, production and business companies with favorable working conditions, ensuring safety - hygiene and economic efficiency.

To practice the profession, workers must have good health, good professional ethics, and sufficient professional knowledge and skills appropriate to the job position.

Moreover, they need to regularly study to enhance their foreign language and computer skills to expand social knowledge; cultivate carefulness, build professional awareness, and passion for the job.

Minimum knowledge volume: 1,515 hours (equivalent to 54 credits).

Note: After graduation, learners have the competence to meet the requirements at job positions in the sector, including:

- Maintenance and repair of transformers, electric motors, generators for private or joint venture enterprises;- Installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of residential and household electrical equipment;- Installation, maintenance, and repair of residential control and warning devices;- Consulting on electrical, electronic, and automation products.

At the same time, the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation in the intermediate level Residential Electricity sector enable them to further develop in higher levels. Graduates have the ability for self-study, self-update on scientific and technological advances within the sector to enhance their level or bridge to higher levels in the same sector, profession, or related training fields.
