Introduction to the field of industrial electrical installation and control at the Intermediate Vocational Education Level in Vietnam

On February 10, 2019, Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs promulgating regulations on the minimum volume of knowledge and competency requirements that learners in Vietnam must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate level, college level in technical fields of electricity, electronics, and telecommunications will take effect.

According to the regulation on the minimum amount of knowledge and the competency requirements that learners need to achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the Electrical Installation and Control Engineering in the Industrial Sector in Vietnam, issued as an attachment to Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, it is stipulated that Electrical Installation and Control Engineering at the intermediate level is a profession where the practitioner performs tasks such as designing, installing, checking, operating, maintaining, repairing electrical systems, and improving the technical equipment of electrical installation and control systems in the industrial sector to meet technical and safety standards, in accordance with level 4 requirements of the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Practitioners of Electrical Installation and Control Engineering in the Industrial Sector work in manufacturing facilities, agencies, business units, repair and installation units, operating electrical equipment at positions including: installing electrical supply and distribution systems for works; operating and maintaining electrical supply and distribution systems for works; installing building management and operation systems; installing renewable energy electrical supply and distribution systems; installing electrical systems for lifting and handling machines.

Practitioners must have the ability to independently organize work, work in teams; be responsible and have high labor discipline in executing tasks, strictly follow industry-specific regulations; be healthy, resilient, quick to react, ensuring safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental handling.

Minimum amount of knowledge: 1,400 hours (equivalent to 50 credits).

Note, after graduation, learners have the competence to meet the job requirements of the profession including:

- Install electrical supply and distribution systems for works.

- Operate and maintain electrical supply and distribution systems for works.

- Install building management and operation systems.

- Install renewable energy electrical supply and distribution systems.- Install electrical systems for lifting and handling machines.
