Below is a noteworthy provision in Decree 133/2020/ND-CP detailing the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Criminal Judgment Execution.

Article 16 of Decree 133/2020/ND-CP stipulates that during the time of serving a prison sentence in a detention camp, inmates are obliged to labor to reform and become useful citizens to society in Vietnam. The detention camp superintendent is responsible for assigning labor to inmates according to their age, health, gender, sentence level, the nature and severity of their criminal acts, and ensuring the requirements of management, detention, education, and reformation of inmates in Vietnam:

- Inmates' labor must be under the supervision and management of the detention camp. Inmate labor time shall not exceed 08 hours in one day and 05 days in one week and are entitled to rest on Sundays, holidays, and Tet. In extraordinary cases or due to vocational training requirements, the detention camp superintendent may request the inmate to work overtime but not exceeding the maximum additional hours in one day as prescribed by labor law, not exceeding 02 hours in one day; not exceeding 30 hours in one month and not exceeding 200 hours in one year; inmates working overtime or on Saturdays and Sundays shall be given compensatory rest or compensated in cash or kind;

- No assignments of heavy or hazardous work according to the list prescribed by law for inmates who are men aged 60 and above, inmates under 18 years old, female inmates, and those whose health is deemed insufficient by the detention camp's medical unit (those who have illnesses or physical, mental disadvantages);

- Inmates are entitled to rest from labor in cases such as pregnant female inmates being entitled to prenatal and postpartum rest as stipulated by law, those who are ill, those undergoing treatment at an infirmary or hospital, and inmates who have children under 36 months old living with them in the detention camp when the child is ill and certified by the camp's medical unit.
