Inland waterway transportation infrastructure assets

On March 13, 2018, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 45/2018/ND-CP regulating the management, usage, and exploitation of inland waterway transportation infrastructure assets.

One notable aspect of Decree 45 is the listing of types of inland waterway transport infrastructure assets, including:

- Inland waterway: Navigation channels; ship locks; structures for transporting vehicles over dams, waterfalls on rivers, canals, creeks, or channels on lakes, lagoons, bays, inshore inland waterways, to islands, and connecting islands within inland waters;- Channel protection corridors;- Inland waterway ports;- Inland waterway berths;- Anchorage areas outside ports;- Embankments, transport dams;- Inland waterway signals;- Other auxiliary works as regulated by specialized inland waterway transport laws.

Inland waterway transport infrastructure assets related to national defense and security are identified according to the laws on the protection of important works related to national defense and national security.

Decree 45/2018/ND-CP has been effective since March 13, 2018.
