Information and Data to be Collected in the Coastal Zone Resource Management Program

Circular 49/2017/TT-BTNMT was issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on November 30, 2017, specifying the information and data required to be collected in the coastal zone resource management program.

Circular 49 stipulates the information and data that need to be collected and aggregated, including:

- Information and data on natural conditions, natural resources, ecosystems, and biodiversity, including geological, topographical, coastal geomorphology conditions, meteorology, hydrology, and oceanography; potential and distribution of resource types; nature reserves, ecosystems;- Information and data on the current state of the environment, environmental incidents, and pollution, including the current state of air, soil, water, and sediment components; incidents occurring during human activities, natural changes causing significant pollution, degradation, and environmental changes; sources of pollution and polluted areas in coastal regions;- Information and data on the situation, developments, and risks of natural disasters, including coastal shoreline changes, erosion, and sedimentation; scale and impact levels of severe winds (including storms, tropical depressions, monsoons, tornadoes, whirlwinds, and other severe wind types), flash floods, inundation, climate change, sea level rise in coastal areas; other types of natural disasters; information and data on preventive measures to reduce harm caused by natural disasters in the coastal region and coastal protection works;- Information and data on planning, strategies, plans, and the current status of resource exploitation and use in coastal regions by ministries, central authorities, and localities;- Information and data on the current status of policies, laws, organizational structures, management resources, and environmental protection in coastal regions, including: current policies and laws; organizational structure, resources; coordination mechanisms; international treaties and other cooperation agreements with foreign organizations and individuals (if any); the application of scientific and technological advancements in the management of resources and environmental protection in coastal regions;- Information and data on the socio-economic situation of coastal regions, including economic conditions (infrastructure, economic sectors...); socio-cultural characteristics (population, cultural practices, historical and cultural relics...);- Information and data on national, sectoral, and local socio-economic development planning and plans;- Other related information and data.

Furthermore, Circular 49 stipulates that based on the collected and aggregated information and data, decisions can be made to conduct additional surveys or estimates based on available information and data.
