Maternity benefits are a concern for all female employees, with the change in statutory pay rate from July 01, 2019, the maternity allowance for female employees will significantly increase.
Article 38 of the 2014 Social Insurance Law clearly states that female employees giving birth or employees adopting a child under 06 months old are entitled to a one-time allowance for each child equal to 02 times the statutory pay rate in the month when the female employee gives birth or the month when the employee adopts the child.
The current statutory pay rate is VND 1.39 million, corresponding to a one-time maternity benefit of VND 2.78 million. However, from July 1, 2019, when the statutory pay rate increases to VND 1.49 million according to Decree 38/2019/ND-CP, the maternity allowance will be VND 2.98 million, an increase of VND 200,000 compared to the current rate.
This is not the only amount in the maternity policies that will increase; several other amounts will also increase according to the statutory pay rate from July 1, 2019, such as:
- Convalescent and rehabilitation allowance after maternity leave, which will be VND 447,000/day, an increase of VND 30,000;
- Female employees giving birth where only the father participates in social insurance, the father will receive a one-time allowance of VND 2.98 million, currently VND 2.78 million per child.
