Incorporating Sustainable Development Plans into the Strategy of Each Sector

The Ministry of Planning and Investment has just signed and issued Circular 02/2013/TT-BKHDT guiding the implementation of certain contents of the Vietnam Sustainable Development Strategy for the period 2011-2020.

According to the provisions of Circular 02/2013/TT-BKHDT, the integration of sustainable development content into strategies, planning, and socio-economic development plans, as well as sector/field development, must be implemented. The integration must meet the following requirements:

- Study the contents of the Vietnam Sustainable Development Strategy for the period 2011 - 2020 to identify the perspectives, objectives, and contents of the strategy, planning, and plans being developed to ensure the building of strategies, planning, and plans oriented towards sustainable development;

- Select the national sustainable development indicators that have been issued to integrate into the strategies, planning, and plans being developed:

+ For socio-economic development strategies, planning, and plans: the national sustainable development indicators that have been issued must be included in the system of socio-economic-environmental indicators of the strategy, planning, plans;

+ For sector/field development strategies, planning, and plans: select the national sustainable development indicators that have been issued suitable for the sector/field to include in the sector/field development strategies, planning, and plans.

In cases where the issued set of national sustainable development indicators does not contain indicators related to the sector/field, specific sustainable development indicators for the sector/field must be identified based on the sustainable development requirements to include in the indicator system of the sector/field development strategies, planning, and plans.
