In 2020, what is the minimum salary for a Bachelor of Law?

Decree 90/2019/ND-CP stipulates regional minimum wages for employees working under official labor contracts and takes effect from January 1, 2020. With the increase in regional minimum wages according to this Decree, the lowest salary for new Law graduates in 2020 will also increase significantly.

Minimum Regional Wage Lookup Table for 2020 Nationwide

To be specific, according to Decree 90, from January 1, 2020, adjustments to increase the minimum regional wage applying to employees working in enterprises are as follows:

- 4,420,000 VND/month, applicable to enterprises operating in region I;- 3,920,000 VND/month, applicable to enterprises operating in region II;- 3,430,000 VND/month, applicable to enterprises operating in region III;- 3,070,000 VND/month, applicable to enterprises operating in region IV.

Specifically, point b, Clause 1, Article 5 of Decree 90/2019/ND-CP stipulates that for employees engaged in work requiring vocational training, the minimum wage enterprises must pay must be at least 7% higher than the regional minimum wage. According to point a, Clause 2, Article 5 of the Decree 90, employees who have undergone vocational training include those who have been awarded certificates of vocational training, vocational diplomas, college degrees, university degrees, bachelor's degrees, etc.

Additionally, according to Clause 1, Article 90 of the Labor Code 2012, the wage that employers pay employees must not be lower than the minimum wage prescribed by the Government of Vietnam.

Thus, based on the above regulations, the minimum wage for new law graduates in 2020 will be:

- 4,729,400 VND/month if the enterprise operates in region I (an increase of 256,800 VND/month compared to 2019);- 4,194,400 VND/month if the enterprise operates in region II (an increase of 224,700 VND/month compared to 2019);- 3,670,100 VND/month if the enterprise operates in region III (an increase of 192,600 VND/month compared to 2019);- 3,284,900 VND/month if the enterprise operates in region IV (an increase of 160,500 VND/month compared to 2019).
