Implementation of Data Submission on Geology and Mineral Resources

On June 5, 2013, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment signed and promulgated Circular 12/2013/TT-BTNMT stipulating the handover, receipt, storage, preservation, and provision of geological and mineral data.

Based on the provisions of Article 4 Circular 12/2013/TT-BTNMT, the submission of geological and mineral data by agencies, organizations, and individuals shall be implemented as follows:

First: Regarding the submission of geological reports

- Geological reports contain information on geology and minerals of a basic geological investigation project on minerals; mineral exploration projects that have been approved or have had their legality and informational value validated by the competent authority. Geological reports include compiled documents, original documents, and samples (if any).

In which:

+ Compiled documents include: explanations and compiled documents presented in the form of appendices, maps, and illustrative photos that fully represent the implementation results;

+ Original documents are the types of documents collected in the field, including: various types of logs, field books, maps, designs, diagrams, photos, tapes, disks, and measurement results;

- Geological reports, once approved by the competent authority, must be submitted to the Geological Information Archive Center under the General Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam.

- After a period of 15 days from the date of approval, the organization undertaking the basic geological investigation on minerals, and the organization exploring minerals are responsible for submitting the geological report to the Geological Information Archive Center.- Number of copies for submission: 02 printed sets of documents and 01 set in the form of electronic archival documents.- The format and specifications for submitted geological reports are stipulated in Appendix 1 issued together with this Circular.

Second, other geological and mineral data (excluding geological reports) stipulated in Article 2, after being accepted, approved, published, or recognized, must be submitted to the Geological Information Archive Center within a period of 15 days from the date of acceptance, approval, publication, or recognition.

- Number of copies for submission: 01 printed set of documents and 01 set in the form of electronic archival documents.- The format and specifications for the submitted types of data are stipulated in separate regulatory documents for each type.

Third, the submission of samples is implemented according to separate regulations.
