Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam issued Decision 1418/QD-BTTTT dated 22/7/2022 on how to identify the "press-like" magazine, general electronic information page and social networks, and the expression of "privatization" of the press.
Specificaly, the ways to identify the "press-like" of social networks in Vietnam are as follows:
The presentation of social media posts is misleading as a news agency.
- Domain names that use confusing words are press agencies in Vietnam such as "Báo", "Tạp chí", "Tin", "Tin tức", "News", Times, Online, Daily...
- Present the interface of a social networking site without specifying it as a social network, only stating the agency, voice, forum...
- Arrange the interface of the homepage of the social network into categories: politics, society, life, culture, entertainment... and publish, synthesize, and display articles, titles, content, photo captions, video-clips... as an electronic newspaper, general information page.
- Synthesize news from press agencies according to their own intentions, inclined to negative and sensational information; self-synthesize news from press agencies into articles and record General information (PV).
- Social network without users to interact with and share information; Post admin member posts with misleading spellings as articles.
- Posting news articles like newspapers by themselves and then transferring them to press agencies for online distribution, then the general website re-publishes them immediately to legitimize the source of information.
- News articles published on websites before being published on press products are recorded as news sources or articles.
- The social network produces its own news like a news agency but publishes it under their network.
Send staff to agencies and units to collect news and documents to write articles, produce media products such as reporters, operational journalists.
- The person responsible for the content and personnel of the general website is concurrently a reporter and editor of a press agency.
- General website, social network with a large number of employees, signed a contract to be a reporter in Vietnam.
