How long does the notary apprentice last?

Circular 04/2015/TT-BTP on guidance for notary practice apprenticeship issued by the Ministry of Justice on April 15, 2015.

Circular 04/2015/TT-BTP stipulates that the apprenticeship duration for the notarial practice (hereinafter referred to as the apprenticeship period) stipulated in Clause 1, Article 11 of the Law on Notarization is calculated from the date the Apprentice is listed in the List of Apprentices of the Department of Justice.

Additionally, Clause 1, Article 11 of the Law on Notarization 2014 stipulates as follows:

- Individuals with a certificate of graduation from a notarial practice training course or a certificate of professional notarial practice training must undergo apprenticeship at a notarial practice organization. Apprentices may independently contact a qualified notarial practice organization for apprenticeship; if they cannot contact one, they can request the local Department of Justice where they wish to apprentice to arrange an apprenticeship at a qualified notarial practice organization.- Apprentices must register their apprenticeship with the Department of Justice in the locality where the notarial practice organization is located.- The apprenticeship period for the notarial practice is 12 months for those with a certificate of graduation from a notarial practice training course and 06 months for those with a certificate of professional notarial practice training. The apprenticeship period is calculated from the date of registration.

Note:

- In the case that an Apprentice changes their apprenticeship location as stipulated in Article 4 of this Circular, the apprenticeship period is calculated as the total apprenticeship duration at the notarial practice organizations.- The total apprenticeship period is acknowledged when the Apprentice has spent at least 03 months at each notarial practice organization.
