According to current regulations, teachers who have been teaching and educating for 5 years (60 months) are eligible for seniority allowance.
The time period for calculating the seniority allowance is determined by the total of the following periods:
- The time spent teaching and educating with mandatory social insurance contributions in public educational institutions.
- The time spent teaching and educating with mandatory social insurance contributions in non-public educational institutions (for teachers currently teaching in public educational institutions who previously taught in non-public educational institutions).
- The time spent working that is calculated for seniority allowance in different sectors, including: the time spent working with a salary graded according to one of the ranks or titles of specialized fields such as customs, courts, prosecution, auditing, inspection, civil judgment enforcement, forestry control, Communist Party inspection, and the time spent working that is calculated for seniority allowance in the military, police, and cipher (if applicable).
- The time spent on compulsory military service as stipulated by law, where the individual was eligible for seniority allowance before entering military service.
Note: The period for calculating the seniority allowance does not include the following times:
- Probationary, internship, or initial employment contract periods;- Periods of unpaid leave lasting 01 month or more continuously;- Periods of sick leave, maternity leave exceeding the time limit prescribed by social insurance law;- Periods of suspension from work or temporary detention or custody for investigation, prosecution, or trial purposes.
Teachers who have been teaching and educating for 5 years will receive a seniority allowance of 5% of their current salary plus leadership position allowance and excess seniority allowance (if applicable); from the following years onward, the seniority allowance is increased by 1% each year.
