Hero of Labor, Hero of the People's Armed Forces: State Honorary Titles

Ordinance on the Conferment of State Honorary Titles: Labor Hero and Hero of the People's Armed Forces 1970 was enacted on January 15, 1970. This Ordinance stipulated the criteria for awarding State honorary titles, namely Labor Hero and Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

To be specific, according to the provisions of the Ordinance on the Conferment of State Honorary Titles: Labor Hero and People's Armed Forces Hero 1970, these conditions are as follows:

- The title of Labor Hero is awarded to units or individuals in the fields of economy, culture, society, science, technology, and administration or to other citizens who meet the following conditions:

- Loyal to the Fatherland and socialism;- Possess revolutionary ethics, a spirit of solidarity, brave and creative labor;- Achieve exceptionally outstanding accomplishments in production and work, contributing to the cause of building socialism.

This title of Labor Hero may be posthumously awarded to those who have died and meet the above conditions.

- The title of People's Armed Forces Hero is awarded to units or individuals in the People's Army, People's Police, or other citizens who meet the following conditions:

- Loyal to the Fatherland and socialism, possess revolutionary ethics;- Have a sense of organization and discipline;- Possess a spirit of solidarity, brave and ingenious combat;- Achieve exceptionally outstanding accomplishments in combat or in activities supporting combat, contributing to the cause of protecting the Fatherland and the people.

This title of People's Armed Forces Hero may be posthumously awarded to those who have died and meet the above conditions.

- The conferment of the titles of Labor Hero and People's Armed Forces Hero is decided by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, based on the proposal of the Council of the Government of Vietnam.

- Any unit or individual awarded the title of Labor Hero is granted a Labor Hero medal. Any unit or individual awarded the title of People's Armed Forces Hero is granted a People's Armed Forces Hero medal.

- Heroic units and individuals must constantly strive to cultivate revolutionary ethics, develop talents, be industrious and humble, and strive to learn to improve all aspects and continuously progress. Government authorities and organizations are responsible for nurturing and assisting heroic units and individuals, creating conditions for them to fully promote their exemplary role in the patriotic emulation movement.

- Heroic units or individuals who continue to achieve exceptionally outstanding accomplishments may be awarded the hero title again and granted a new hero medal.

- Units or individuals awarded the hero title, if they commit serious mistakes and no longer deserve the title, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly will review and decide to revoke the hero title.
