Hanoi-Vietnam: New regulations on the eligibility requirements for registration of enrollment for pedagogy training programs

On March 1, 2018, the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training issued Circular 07/2018/TT-BGDDT amending and supplementing the name and certain provisions of the Regulation on enrollment for full-time undergraduate and college programs in pedagogy training majors, which was issued along with Circular 05/2017/TT-BGDDT.

Circular 07 has amended and supplemented regulations on the eligibility requirements for registration of enrollment for pedagogy training programs in Vietnam. Specifically, the new eligibility requirements are as follows:

- Have graduated from upper secondary education (through full-time education or continuing education) or graduated from post-secondary education (hereinafter collectively referred to as secondary education graduates);

- Individuals who have graduated from the post-secondary education but do not have an upper secondary education diploma must study and be recognized as having completed the upper secondary education program as stipulated;

- Be in good health to study according to current regulations. For disabled individuals recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as having deformities, disabilities, or reduced self-reliance in daily activities and learning due to the consequences of chemical agents and are offspring of individuals who participated in the resistance campaign affected by chemical agents: Principals of schools shall consider and decide on allowing them to attend suitable programs based on their health condition;

- Be within the age range stipulated for schools or programs that have age requirements;

- Meet preliminary requirements if applying for admission or taking exams to schools that have preliminary regulations;

- Have permanent residence registration in the regions specified for enrollment if applying for admission or taking exams to schools that have regulations on enrollment regions;

- Military personnel; officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted soldiers in the People's Public Security Force on active duty are only allowed to apply to schools stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense or the Ministry of Public Security after being permitted by the competent authority to attend school; active duty soldiers about to finish their military service according to regulations, if permitted by the commanding officer at the regimental level or higher, are allowed to apply according to personal aspirations. If admitted, they must conduct school admission in that year and cannot defer to the next academic year.
