On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Vietnam Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, regulating the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates from intermediate and college programs in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine, will come into force.

According to the regulation on the minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for graduates from intermediate and college programs in forest resource management, issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, college-level forest resource management is a major that performs technical tasks related to the management, protection, and development of forest resources, meeting the Level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
Main tasks to be performed include: Implementing planning, surveying, monitoring, and developing forest resources to support the protection and development of forest resources; planning the use of forest land; technical measures for the management, protection, and development of forest resources; silvicultural techniques impacting on forests, enriching forests, promoting forest regeneration; techniques for planting and caring for forests; extracting and processing forest products; inspecting the management, protection, and development of forest resources; monitoring and supervising forest planting and caring activities; inspecting and supervising the implementation of forest fire prevention and firefighting works; inspecting the implementation of forest land use activities in each locality; implementing forest conservation and development tasks; conserving genetic resources; conserving rare species; conserving and preserving valuable seed sources; propagating and mobilizing people to participate in the management, protection, and development of forest resources; advising higher authorities on forest resource development planning; forest resource protection tasks; conservation of forest flora and fauna; guiding people in building and developing forestry professions; designing models for planting and caring for forests; silvicultural works; demarcating forest boundary markers.
Graduates of college-level forest resource management in Vietnam will be capable of organizing and managing production at forestry facilities, assisting forest resource management engineers, and forestry engineers in conducting scientific research topics in the field of forest resource management; and applying scientific and technological advances in forest resource management. They will directly participate in production across all economic sectors, companies, manufacturing enterprises, service organizations, institutes, and research centers on forest resource management both domestically and internationally, as well as related organizations and individuals. They will also have the ability to continue their studies to higher levels.
The minimum knowledge volume is 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).
