Hanoi-Vietnam: Criteria for assessing the accuracy of measurement technology using the traversing method

The Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment issued Circular 08/2017/TT-BTNMT on the measurement process of remote sensing image control. This is the first Circular specifying details on this matter.

Upon the application of the measurement technology using the traversing method in Vietnam, the assessment criteria for accuracy are specified as follows:

No. Assessment criteria for accuracy Technical specifications
1

Traversing angle

≥ 30° (degrees)
2

Number of traverse sides

≤ 15
3

Length of traverse:

- Connecting 2 high-level points

- Closed loop perimeter

≤ 8 km

≤ 20 km
4

Length of traverse:

- Longest side

- Shortest side

- Average length of one side

≤ 1,400 m

≥ 200 m

500-700 m
5

Absolute value of the standard error of angle measurement

≤ 5 seconds
6

Absolute value of closing angle limit error of the closed-loop traverse (n is the number of angles in the closed-loop traverse)

≤ 5 √n seconds
7

Relative closure error/fs/[s]

≤ 1:25,000
8

Positional error of the remote sensing control point after adjustment relative to the nearest state coordinate origin point

≤ 0.2 pixel

More regulations on the submission of measurement results may be found in Circular 08/2017/TT-BTNMT effective from July 24, 2017.
