Hanoi: Criteria for consideration for awarding the Commemorative Medal for the Cause of Education of Vietnam by the Ministry of Education and Training

This is an important provision specified in Circular 21/2020/TT-BGDDT guiding the emulation and commendation work in the education sector issued by the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training on July 31, 2020.

In Article 6 of Circular 21/2020/TT-BGDDT, the Commemorative Medal is stipulated as a commendation form given once by the Vietnam Minister of Education and Training to individuals within and outside the education sector who meet one of the following criteria confirmed by their supervisory authority:

1. Individuals working in the education sector

- They have worked in the education sector for 20 years or more. In cases where individuals are sent to study or perform military service and then continue to work in the education sector, the period for studying or performing military service is counted as working time in the education sector to award the Commemorative Medal. Individuals with sufficient working time but who have been disciplined at the level of reprimand to below the level of dismissal will only be considered for the Commemorative Medal 2 years after the end of the disciplinary period; the disciplinary period will not be counted towards consideration for the Commemorative Medal;

- Individuals currently working in particularly disadvantaged areas, or poor districts enjoying policies similar to those in particularly disadvantaged areas will be considered for the award 5 years earlier than the time specified in point a of this clause.

2. Individuals working outside the education sector

- Have held a managerial position for a full term (60 months) or longer, and have made significant contributions in leading and guiding, contributing to the development of the education sector;

- Have made significant contributions to the development of the education sector through financial support or material donations, as confirmed by the beneficiary unit;

Individuals are Vietnamese who reside abroad and foreigners and have made positive contributions to the construction and development of Vietnam's education and training sector, and in enhancing the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam's education and other countries and international organizations.
