Guidelines on Teaching Methods for English Subject at College Level

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs recently signed and promulgated Circular 03/2019/TT-BLDTBXH, issuing the English language course program belonging to the group of general courses in the curriculum for intermediate and college levels.

The methods for teaching and studying the English subject at the college level are guided by Circular 03/2019/TT-BLDTBXH as follows:

- For teachers: Teachers should flexibly apply various teaching methods; emphasize communicative methods in teaching; and utilize diverse teaching techniques.- For learners: They should observe, participate in group activities, follow the teacher’s instructions, and complete homework assignments.- The college-level English course can be divided into 02 parts for teaching, each lasting 60 hours.- It is encouraged to organize online teaching and learning for the subject, combined with online self-study software to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.- In addition to the 120 hours of classroom learning, teachers should develop content and self-study goals for an additional 180 hours through supplementary exercises, English self-study software or applications, and other reference materials to help learners achieve the required foreign language proficiency as prescribed upon graduating at the college level.
