Guidelines for Inspection and Operation of Systems at Meteorological Satellite Receiving Station

Circular 14/2018/TT-BTNMT has been issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment stipulating the technical regulations on the process of meteorological and hydrological information and data operations. This is the first Circular providing detailed regulations on this matter.

According to the new regulations, the inspection and operation of the Outdoor – Indoor system shall be conducted as follows:

Inspection of Outdoor system:

- Measure and inspect signal quality and signal strength;- Inspect and adjust the elevation angle and azimuth angle of the antenna;- Inspect and adjust the rotation angle, eccentricity, and distance between the LNB and Feed horn in comparison to the signal reflection surface;- Inspect the connections between devices, quality of signal cables;- Inspect the lightning protection system, surge protection devices for power lines, surge protection devices for signal lines, grounding system for antennas, coaxial cables, and lightning protection devices for power lines;- Inspect the mast system and guy wires for antennas.

Operation of Indoor system:

- Inspect and monitor the operation of the satellite signal receiver and related devices of the system;- Operate the hardware of the system;- Operate the software of the system.
