Guidelines for implementing the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam 2024 include the following activities:
1. Organizing the Launching Ceremony of the Action Month
The Central Vietnam Elderly Association and the Provincial/City Elderly Associations (collectively referred to as the Elderly Associations) at the central level will organize the Launching Ceremony in accordance with specific conditions, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Government and local authorities.
2. Communication activities
Organizing communication activities to convey the meaning and message of the "Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam" in 2024; disseminating laws, policies on the elderly, and solutions to address population aging issues through newspapers, television, radio, banners, posters, and leaflets in the community.
3. Implementing programs and projects to support the elderly
Implementing the National Action Program for the Elderly in the period 2021–2030 (Decision 2156/QD-TTg dated December 21, 2021), Scaling up the Inter-generational Self-Help Club model until 2025 (Decision 1336/QD-TTg dated August 31, 2020), the Elderly Healthcare Program until 2030 (Decision 1579/QD-TTg dated October 13, 2020), and other related programs and projects in a synchronized and effective manner.
4. Mobilizing resources to support the elderly
- Mobilizing organizations, businesses, and individuals to support and assist the elderly with their entrepreneurial, production, and business development needs.
- Organizing visits, gifts, and encouragement to support elderly individuals in poverty or difficult circumstances.
- Developing the Care Fund and promoting the role of the elderly at the grassroots level.
5. Developing and maintaining intergenerational clubs and various cultural, artistic, physical, and sports clubs suitable for the elderly; organizing competitions, cultural exchanges, and sports activities for the elderly.
6. Implementing Resolution VI of the Vietnam Elderly Association to effectively carry out 30 tasks, 3 work programs, and 2 government-assigned tasks.
- Disseminate and educate to enhance the awareness and responsibility of authorities at all levels, central authorities, and the social community in organizing the implementation of the Law on the Elderly and in the work of protecting, caring for, and promoting the role of the elderly.
- Mobilize support resources and improve the quality of life for the elderly in terms of health, material well-being, and mental well-being; prioritize assistance to impoverished and disadvantaged elderly individuals.
- Local activities organized by agencies and units must be practical, effective, and ensure that impoverished and disadvantaged elderly individuals receive attention and support through various means.
- Encourage and mobilize all levels, sectors, the Elderly Association, and elderly individuals to actively participate in building a strong Party and government, constructing new rural areas and civilized urban areas, and building a positive image of Vietnamese elderly individuals as "“Tuổi cao - Gương sáng” ("Respected Age - Role Models.")
