On August 27, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch 4719/BGDDT-GDTC guiding the implementation of physical education and sports activities for the 2024 - 2025 school year in Vietnam.

In order to carry out the tasks for the 2024 - 2025 school year in Vietnam and continue improving quality to meet practical requirements, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam (MOET) has provided guidelines for implementing physical education and sports activities with the following main contents:

(1) Physical Education Work:

- Effectively implement the physical education (PE) curriculum, allocate reasonable and scientific time to enhance lesson quality; innovate teaching methods and assessment approaches to create interest and relieve pressure for students (HSSV) during participation in PE and sports activities; approach individualized learning based on the conditions of each educational institution.

- Organize sports activities linked to PE content, diversify content and forms of physical exercises, and encourage students to actively participate in health-enhancing and physical development activities.

- Conduct morning exercises and mid-session exercises suitable to the psychological and physiological characteristics of each age group, and implement based on the conditions of each school; prepare necessary conditions for the gradual implementation of swimming subjects; schools should have specific plans to organize various sports, paying particular attention to traditional sports and self-defense martial arts for students, according to local and educational institution conditions.

- Enhance the organization of meals ensuring reasonable nutrition and food safety, combined with increased scientific and reasonable physical activities.

(2) Sports Activities

- Continue to implement and summarize the execution of Decision 1076/QD-TTg dated June 17, 2016, by the Prime Minister approving the comprehensive scheme for the development of PE and school sports for the period 2016-2020, with an orientation towards 2025.

- Promote school sports movements, encourage and support the spirit of training, voluntary participation in suitable sports, and active engagement in physical and sports activities inside and outside schools.

- Promote the establishment and maintenance of effective and routine operations of sports clubs within schools and between schools; cooperate well with physical fitness centers to create beneficial and healthy playgrounds for students.

- Enhance the organization of sports competitions from school/cluster levels; district educational departments; provincial and city levels for students. Establish teams to participate in sports competitions at all levels and send students to international sports events in regions, continents, and the world (see attached appendix).

Simultaneously, organize training activities to improve the professional competence and teaching methods for PE teachers and lecturers in educational institutions.

Review and effectively utilize physical facilities, playgrounds, equipment dedicated to PE and sports activities in educational institutions; establish cooperation programs with local physical education and sports management agencies to support the use of sports facilities in the area for the purpose of physical education and sports activities for students.
