Guidelines for Handling Medical Incidents in Healthcare Facilities

Circular 43/2018/TT-BYT has been issued by the Ministry of Health providing Guidelines for the Prevention of Medical Incidents in Medical Examination and Treatment Facilities.

According to the new regulations, in the event of a medical incident, it must be handled immediately as follows:

- Medical staff working in medical examination and treatment facilities, upon discovering a medical incident, must handle it immediately before reporting to the reception and medical incident management department.- The Department of Health directly directs the medical examination and treatment facilities under it on measures to ensure patient safety and conducts an investigation, and reports quickly to the Ministry of Health within 24 hours from the time the medical incident occurs.- The Ministry of Health directly directs the medical examination and treatment facilities under it on measures to ensure patient safety and conducts an investigation, and reports quickly within 24 hours from the time the medical incident occurs.
