Guidance on Inspection of Food Safety for Imported Salt

This is a noteworthy content stipulated in Circular 39/2018/TT-BNNPTNT guiding the inspection of quality and food safety of imported salt under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to Circular 39/2018/TT-BNNPTNT, the inspection of food safety for imported salt is carried out as follows:

- The importer registers for the inspection of food safety for imported salt with the inspection authority at the local border gate where the salt shipment is imported.- The registration dossier; the sequence and procedures for inspection; handling of inspection results of salt shipments that do not meet quality requirements; application of inspection methods; responsibilities and authorities of the inspection agency; rights and obligations of the importer are implemented according to Article 18, Article 19, Article 20, Article 17, Article 15, and Article 21 of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP.- Sample collection for inspection and sample retention are implemented according to point a, clause 3, Article 1 of Circular 12/2017/TT-BKHCN amending and supplementing Circular 26/2012/TT-BKHCN. The salt samples are contained in sealed plastic boxes or bottles with the inspection agency's seal. The inspection agency collects samples and makes a sampling record of imported salt with the presence of the importer's representative and the Customs authority's representative at the border gate.
