Guidance on Classification of Facilities for Exploration and Exploitation of Radioactive Ores

Circular 04/2016/TT-BKHCN was issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology on April 4, 2016, providing detailed guidelines for the classification of establishments engaged in the exploration and exploitation of radioactive ore.

Circular 04 stipulates that, based on the potential effective dose level that an employee working at a radioactive ore exploration and mining facility is exposed to in a year, these facilities are classified into three types as follows:

- Type A: Facilities with the potential to cause a potential effective dose level greater than 6 mSv/year for an employee performing the exploration and mining of radioactive ore.- Type B: Facilities with the potential to cause a potential effective dose level greater than 1 mSv/year but less than or equal to 6 mSv/year for an employee performing the exploration and mining of radioactive ore.- Type C: Facilities with the potential to cause a potential effective dose level less than or equal to 1 mSv/year for an employee performing the exploration and mining of radioactive ore.
