Guidance on Calculating the Time Spent on Direct Medical-Technical Specialization

Decree 41/2015/ND-CP guides the calculation of the time directly involved in medical technical expertise as follows:

- The service time for individuals engaged in medical technical expertise in the battlefields B, C, K; the war defending the Southwestern border, the Northern border, and Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Laos and Cambodia is counted as the time directly involved in medical technical expertise, with each year of service counted as 1 year and 6 months.

- The service time in special fields: Treatment of tuberculosis, leprosy, psychiatry, HIV/AIDS; forensic medicine; pathological anatomy and work at prisons, detention centers, compulsory education institutions, compulsory rehabilitation centers, reform schools, remote areas, isolated areas, extremely difficult areas, borders, islands, with each year of service counted as 1 year and 2 months.

- Medical practitioners during their time in medical management at healthcare facilities, pharmaceutical production, medical research, disease prevention, also engaged in medical technical expertise, their management time will be counted as the time directly involved in medical technical expertise.

- The time medical practitioners spend studying unrelated to further professional medical or pharmaceutical training for more than 12 months or taking unpaid leave, maternity leave, sick leave, or extended leave as prescribed by law will not be counted as the time directly involved in medical technical expertise.

- In cases where medical practitioners change their work positions and there is an interruption in their time directly involved in medical technical expertise, the uninterrupted periods of medical technical expertise will be aggregated.
